The Collage Blueprint

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why should I use a College Blueprint educational consultant for my student’s college plans?

With nearly 25 years as the industry leader in the ever-changing world of college admissions, our experienced and talented college counselors hold advanced degrees in educational counseling or higher education administration. Many also have a certificate in college counseling from UCI or UCLA. All our counselors (educational consultants) have chosen the field of counseling teens as their career. We love working with teens!

We visit college campuses (already approximately 700!), stay current on the latest changes and developments in higher education, and we “do college” 24/7/365!

We provide the services your student will need to successfully complete high school and be competitive candidates for college admissions. We have a robust test prep program, subject tutoring, and academic coaching. Because we know that different students have different strengths, and grades and test scores matter, we can provide the support your student needs.

Once you join the College Blueprint family, you will receive discounts on tutoring, test prep, and academic coaching!

  • What does it cost to use your services?

Our Comprehensive Programs, from freshman through senior year, range from $4,900 to $6,900, depending on when your student joins. We advise, guide, and partner with you and your student until your student graduates from high school.

Although our Comprehensive Program includes everything needed for success in the college planning and admissions process, we understand that some families have very specific needs and budgets. We are happy to design a customized blueprint for you.

Keep in mind: Our students in our comprehensive programs average $19,328 in annual scholarships – which makes this a very wise investment!

  • Do you work with my student throughout high school?

Yes! Our Comprehensive College Counseling Programs start during your student’s current year of school and continue through high school graduation and beyond if you choose! Consider yourself a part of The College Blueprint Family!

  • When should my student start college counseling?

TODAY! Don’t wait! It’s never too early to start, especially with college admissions constantly shifting! In fact, students who start with us earlier in high school, or even middle school, have better academic outcomes, less stress, and more ownership in the college admissions process than those who wait.

  • When and how often do you meet with my student?

Depending on the year you join The College Blueprint family, we meet on average once a month. However, we may meet more frequently once we start writing essays and applying to colleges.

  • How is my counselor matched with my student?

We get to know you, your student, and your academic goals and go from there! Based on the consultation and the information you provide about your student on the Registration Form, we consider several things, such as your student’s academic area of interest (Wait, they don’t know yet? That’s ok- we have assessments to help them figure it out!), the type of college experience they want to have, activities of importance, and overall collegiate goals. However, the most crucial factor is ensuring the counselor and your student click!  In other words, are their personalities a good fit?

Regardless of which counselor your student is matched with, each counselor follows The College Blueprint curriculum and will accomplish the same goals. Therefore, the content of the meetings will be the same, but as each counselor has a different personality, just like your student, they may approach some things differently.

  • How do I know my student will be successful?

We take great pride in our service excellence and in assuring each student is wildly successful in this process. Don’t worry- you already put in the hard work raising a fantastic teenager. Now it’s time to turn it over to us so we can guide them in this next step of their life and take the stress out of the home life. With your counselor, your student will build a “balanced” college list of schools to apply to before the Fall of their Senior year, create a resume, understand application and other requirement deadlines, have a thorough understanding of the different application systems, complete all of college application essays including their personal statement and all supplemental essays.

Your student’s counselor will also consistently monitor grades and college admissions eligibility, explore different majors and career options, and assist your student in determining a  personalized standardized testing plan. This is all in addition to any other specialized support needed for your unique student.

  • Do you meet in person?

Our families love the flexibility of virtual meetings and the time (and gas) savings on carpools! Therefore, our meetings are held virtually. We work with students across the United States and abroad, so virtual meetings are necessary.

Our counselors know how to develop a rapport with your student online, research colleges, share information, review documents, and so on while working directly with your student. We are proud to say we excel at the connections and results we can offer in a virtual world!

  • How often are students admitted to their top-choice colleges?

All College Blueprint students who have completed our Comprehensive Program have been admitted into at least one of their top-choice schools. However, as we work with your student and as they learn more about colleges and universities, we see their college list change. What may have started as a top-choice college at the beginning of their planning and exploration process may have changed by the end of the process. We like this! It means your student has developed in-depth ‘college knowledge’!

Our students have been admitted to all types of colleges, from the Ivy League to military academies, liberal arts colleges, flagship universities, and religious schools in the US and internationally! Our focus is to help your student find the right college--the perfect academic, financial, and social fit.

  • Do you provide college financial fit, financial aid, and scholarship advising?

Yes, yes, and YES! We know it can be confusing, and we are here to help you through the entire process! We are thrilled to announce we have partnered with College Aid Pro. Our families can receive a confidential, in-depth report of their estimated out-of-pocket costs for any specific college before making a final decision on pursuing college admissions! You can even use this tool to help develop a list of colleges that are a good financial fit for your family. We are proud that, on average, our College Blueprint Comprehensive Students have received approximately $19,000 in annual scholarships! Now, that is a good return on your investment!

  • How do we get started?
